Utility asset management meets mapping and location intelligence with new partnership
CALGARY, Alta., Canada – April 27, 2021 - Engineered Intelligence Inc. (EII), a power infrastructure technology startup helping utility companies manage their assets and avoid failure, joins the Esri Startup Program. As the global leader in location intelligence, Esri’s ArcGIS system will extend EII’s newly launched ENGIN platform with some of the most powerful mapping and spatial analytics software available in the world.
ENGIN, an automated, data-driven platform, monitors the complex aspects of electric systems so utilities can adequately plan for risk. Esri’s three-year Startup program will see ENGIN bolstered by mapping and location intelligence that allows utilities to visualize their power grid with geographical context, down to the status of their assets in the smallest of streets or neighbourhoods. This enables geospatial planning workflows to be explored directly in ENGIN or directly within Esri technologies.
“This is a pivotal moment for our company and the platform we’ve developed. ENGIN provides utility customers with a deep understanding of their assets, but amplifying this understanding with location intelligence creates something truly unique,” said Ted Zalucki, CEO of EII.
“An issue we see regularly with clients is that they ‘think in assets’, not in city blocks, streets, towns or cities. By restricting thinking to replacing one pole or some faulty cables, you restrict the opportunity for more widespread, tailored problem solving when looking at assets with locational factors in mind,” added Zalucki.
Not only will the Calgary-based startup get to work with ArcGIS, the world’s leading GIS software, the program will also provide EII with access to Esri’s development tools, content, training and support.
"Transforming the way utilities manage their assets, ultimately helping them tackle the risk of failure can have huge knock-on effects by providing geospatial context to each asset. Through Esri's Startup Program, we're excited to help EII apply geospatial thinking to its ENGIN product using our leading mapping and spatial analytics software,” said Paul Salah, director, Strategic Alliances and Partnerships, Esri Canada. “We look forward to working with them to create something transformative for the sector."
